What are the 5 ways to wellbeing?
A simple, evidence-based place to start is the 5 ways to wellbeing — five everyday actions shown to support mental health:
- Connect — nurture relationships with family, friends, colleagues and community.
- Be active — move in a way you enjoy: a walk, a swim, a kickabout, a stretch.
- Take notice — pay attention to the present moment and the world around you.
- Keep learning — try something new; curiosity is good for the mind.
- Give — kindness to others lifts our own wellbeing too.
You don't need to overhaul your life. Weaving even one or two of these into each day genuinely helps.

HappierMe: understand your own mind
At first glance HappierMe might appear to be just another app, but founder Dr Manoj Krishna, a retired UK spinal surgeon, explains: "Most problems we humans face, for which there is no easy answer, begin in our thinking. Our mission is to empower people to understand their own mind so they can be in charge of their thoughts, feelings and actions, and live a happier life."
With more than 70 bite-sized modules, HappierMe helps you feel better now, then takes you deeper to understand the root cause of problems for long-term benefit. There's an online forum, a guided journal for self-reflection, and additional support from partner coaches. HappierMe has evidenced significant transformations in young people and adults.

TRE UK: releasing stored stress and trauma
What if one simple, regular physical practice could release the symptoms of past stress, overwhelm or trauma? That was our reaction when we met Caroline Purvey, founder of TRE UK®, whose Total Release Experience Programme has been helping people for over 12 years — releasing tension held in the core of the body, sometimes with a positive impact from the first 15-minute session.
Our founder Steve Phillip and his wife have both experienced the programme, with hugely positive benefits — Steve saw a 90% improvement in a frozen shoulder he'd carried for 12 months, and his wife experienced a significant release of recurring trauma carried since her mother's death more than 40 years earlier.
Caroline is on a mission to train facilitators in schools so young people don't carry childhood trauma into adult life — every participant's fee supports training at a nominated school. In December 2024 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). Find out more at RRDCIC.ORG.
